On the way, maybe…

Why does it take,

Three days or more to make,

An absolute prediction,

As to what’s coming weather wise to our state…

They wait till the last minute,

Telling us for several days prior,

We are in for it now, by the weekend we will be in need so dire,

Snow is on the way, heavy it will be, a foot or more, we will acquire…

Then the day of the supposed blizzard does arrive,

Stay off the roads, do not drive,

Buy all you can, milk & bread and whatever to survive,

Be sure to dress in layered clothing,

The world as we know it is about to become white,

Boy we are in for a terrible day and night…

Then we get but an inch or two,

All that worry; all that stress,

Hardly necessary to wear more than a dress,

The temps in the sixties, what snow we got melted away,

Why can they not make an accurate prediction?

Or just be honest and tell us they don’t know,

Would that be so bad for them to confess…?

It does make one wonder, Ed...doesn't it?

I depend on tree frogs and crows to tell me what the
weather will be...and they are NEVER wrong.
When tree frogs sing loudly at dusk...it rains.
When crows march around your back door, cawing loudly for food...
a blizzard is on its way. Ditto with coons, possum, deer.

What does a weatherman know, aside from how to twirl a long
stick, following preprinted lines on a screen?
Diddly squat...that's what.

Good job, here, Ed.

hehe... I love calling the weather on the phone while it's pouring and hear the cheery voice say "chance of rain"... you've hit the nail on the head once again, with your astute observations of life, me sweet Eddie M.

Ed,

You ought to know by now that predicting the weather is an inexact science. The weather's gonna do what the weather's gonna do, my daddy always told me.

What I want is at least three hours lead time before a tornado strikes, that way I can fly out before it hits, fly somewhere and find underground shelters...none 'round here. Maybe I'll come to New Jersey?? LOL

Enjoyed this poem--they say you're gonna get it, the Garden State is supposed to be the Parking Lot State LOL

(((HUGS))) and stay safe, love, Karla. (((HUGS))) to Rene and Rufuz, too

No one, especially weathermen and politicians, confess anymore - except you. What color dress are you talking about?! And most importantly, does it match your shoes?!

Ed,

Ever notice how fast the predictions change? Wonderful write. I guess I'll go out and buy a new dress to wear
. (lol)

sherry is right but wouldn't it be a kick to hear the truth for once...'damn midwest, haven't a clue what you're going to get, look out your window in the morning if you are interested. '

Reviewed on January 21, 2005
that's why they call it predicting the weather: they don't know any more than we do what it is going to do!

great write!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx., karen lynn. :D

in the meantime, can you try to send some of that cold snowy stuff here???? pleeeeeeeeeeeez????

Sherry's got a good point :-) but I understand your frustration. The Internet weather websites seem pretty good in predictions. No voices predicting doom.......just the facts and then its your turn to decide what to do with them.

I agree whole heartedly but then that is why they are called whether men in that they do not know whether it will do this or that.

LOL Would you want to listen to a weather guy who came on and said.."yanno I just don't have a clue what the weather might bring..might be snow might be spring, you're on your own"? Mother nature has a way of tripping up even the best of them.
Take care,
Sherry
