Can one cry and be sad when he is also trying to be funny...?

TOO SMILE…

There once was a guy named Ed,

Who did sleep a lot in his bed,

He also did have a lot of hair on his head,

Till today, when he did cut it all off,

He wanted to keep his new job,

So all the rest of his hair he did let them rob,

His head does now look like it did ten years hence,

Now he cannot say that as a longhaired hippy,

He does not live his life in the middle of the fence,

Okay, so this little rhyme does not make much sense,

Since when did Ed ever write poetry that made any real cents?

There once was a guy with long hair,

It was blond with wisps of gray quite fair,

Now it just has the gray and little flair,

Poor, poor Ed, it is a very sad affair…

Those that know him best,

Think he looks good, no jest,

But poor old Ed does feel he did give in,

To the same societal pressures that in the past he did protest…

So for a time, Ed will try his new or is it old, hairstyle,

Perhaps in time he will see it was totally worthwhile,

But for now he does feel he did make the wrong choice,

For now he does find it hard, with in his throat, bile,

                 TOO SMILE…! L

hey Ed you're having fun with that pen and the den. Rhyme is good sometime but having fun is better. As far as laughing and crying at the same time, I do quite a bit of that. I always say this can't be real we're living in, must be a fantasy or dream. I figure we should enjoy laughing at our own stupities, and crying if that's what it takes. Anyway at age 54, I'm finished figuring the laughing part. Humor makes the worse situation more horrible, I mean tolerable. If you and I take twenty more years to figure out why we should use the smiling feature, it'll be almost over. hehe G

Sigh... it appears the tearful haircuts are a part of the lives of those named Ed, Ed! How well we remember Little Eddie K's coerced shearing.

Perhaps you could tape your lost hairs to your head while not working... the best of both worlds? Want ideas? Just ask me! (grin) Jaysus, Eddie M... I hope you aren't eyeballing Rufuz with the scissors in your hands. NO... Not that! hehe... katy xox. (may I call you "baldy?" LOL>) ok, ok... I'm leaving.. byeeeeeeee

Awww come on, Ed. Me thinks thou does protest too much. You are attaching too much to your hair...it's just hair, it is not about who you are. Everything in life comes with a price. You could have kept your hair and not been the right guy for the job and been sick and worried about money and getting by or you could buy into society and get a good job, where the owners want a clean-cut look for their employees. If you want to feel like you are selling out, apply it to accepting the job in the first place, not to cutting your hair. Life is all about trade-offs. I think you have made the right ones.
Take care,
Sherry

As Joan Jett once sang "Glorious Memories of a misspent youth." Two years ago, I cut off my 15" ponytail for charity. It had to be done, so I chose to make money doing it. Anyway, people can tolerate a gray hair hippy, better the a half bald hippy. The hair is gone, but the memories and beliefs live on...

Does the hair make the hippy or the hippy the hair?

Well I cut my hair too as it was flying all over the place for my book interview with the local paper. Hey I did manage to get the town to back down on limiting people to two dogs per household. The video vigalantee caught a certain councilman's dog piddling on the front lawn of his neighbor. Ed Kostro gave me that idea hehe.
