Nuclear Fishin’… Gonna set myself right down, Right here next to this warm water, Just near the power plant, Hope when I do come away from there, I can breathe let alone pant… Want me some fish that do glow in the dark, Easier to see when tryin to catch them, it is here so stark, No trees, no grass, no other animals around, Oh I hope I have the right bait to catch that sunburned looking shark… Already the fish I do catch are cooked, Must be the nuclear stuff in the water, hey I got one hooked, Gonna be some good eatin’ this night, Won’t have to worry about light either, I could see this guy a mile away even if I were blind… This nuclear fishin’ is the best way to catch dinner, I wonder if I were to catch a big glowing one, Will I be hailed as a big winner? Or will I have to die first a radioactive sinner…? J © ed ~ 2/18/05

This is a scary thought. I recall years ago when I was living in Los Angeles, and the Diablo Canyon Nuke plant was always under fire by those who wanted to protect the ocean, hearing about things being brought out of the water that could not be identified. The story is that the scientists couldn't determine if they were animal or plant they were so mutated. I am not sure if it was a true statement but it certainly was fodder for those of us who wanted the nukes shut down.

This brings back memories of growing up in North Jersey. We'd go for "outings" on the stateline, overlooking the city. Men, fishing off the docks, on the Hudson River. Tug boats going back and forth, garbage freighters, moving along. Sludged and dead fish, coming to shore. But these guys still fishing in it. This was back in the late 60s, early 70s. Guess only those Jersey boys, find that good eating...

Have you run into any of those flesh-eating giant mutated glow-worms out there by that plant?? If you do, they make great bait for those cooked sharks, but don't let them get on your clothes - Yikes!

Boy you hit the nail on the hammer with this one. I refuse to fish near a nuclear plant. I prefer the private lakes and ponds.
