MOM, (NOT your typical Mothers day poem)

Gotta laugh, otherwise I would cry & I did enough of that growing up, thats why...

MOM!

MOM, the epitome of a pain ON my ass,

MOM, her hand did hurt worse than dads belt,

MOM, washed my butt more times than on one hand I could count,

MOM, called me stinky and on my butt did make many a welt…

MOM, washed out my mouth with soap for saying the “F” word,

MOM, had to clean up my puke after swallowing the soap in chunks, (guess I showed her, huh?)

MOM, had to chase into the ocean waves after I did lose my swimming trunks,

MOM, embarrassed me, walking me home naked, after my trunks went missing…

MOM, by the time I was 12 I knew she was a flake,

MOM, listen to your father, he knows what he does say when he is awake,

MOM, no sisters or brothers do you have cause you are the worst,

MOM, when having you we certainly did make a huge mistake…

MOM, you’re telling ME!

MOM, life would have been better living as a tree,

MOM, you made my life a pure hell on earth,

MOM, perhaps that is the reason why I am so full of NOW, mirth…

MOM, I have to now laugh and be full of shit,

MOM, for if I do not I will cry and by Rufuz get bit,

MOM, comedy and humor I did learn from a life with you of strife,

MOM, gee thanks mom for not allowing me to myself commit…

You, dear Eddie, are going to be sharing the doghouse WITH Rufuz if yo Mama gits wind of this one--wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Your pain is our pleasure. That's not what I meant, but I hope you know what I mean.

Some people should not ever be parents, and it would appear that you were born to one of those people. Raising children is no simple task and it might be a lot easier if they came with an owner's manual. No matter the strife you endured as a child, I am still glad that she had you and that I am able to read your wonderful if not somewhat "unique" posts. You have lightened my day on so many occasions.
Take care,
Sherry

Not the typical Mother's Day poem, Ed, but your experiences, however sadly, do echo a lot of people's. Eddie K. said it best, humor and being able to look back on life with no regrets is often the best gift we can give ourselves. Have a great weekend and my best to Rufuz.

Truly not your typical Mother's Day poem, Ed - and I can truly feel your anguish. But as you say, humor often is the best medicine.

But I must say that the first part of your poem truly does sound like some of my experiences as a kid - but luckily I had 2 brothers and a sister that I could torment, although I usually paid for my numerous crimes.

Keep Smilin, and Keep on Keepin On - Bro.
