Is there really any such thing as a poet...?

I Don’t Write Poetry…

I write poems of myself,

I am helped by my lil’ writers elf,

He sits on my shoulder and critiques,

At times he acts quite meek,

At others he says I am quite unique,

Then again at other times he tells me to improve my technique…

I write stuff to entertain,

To tell of the self that should be plain,

I speak of the fact of my insanity,

I relate to the reader of my lack of a brain…J

The poems I do write,

Do seem to be quite for some out of sight,

With my lil’ writers elf I do sometimes fight,

Tougher than me he does be,

He is in reality no weight that is light…

We poem together,

Writing with a touch light as a feather,

Though few comment or peruse our work,

Those that don’t he considers to be the jerks…J

Sometimes I like to slap that little elf right off my shoulder. But he always comes back. It beats writing in the real world.

Wait a minute, I thought Rufuz was your Muse. Does this little elf fella have a name, too? And does he get along with Rufuz??

You gotta behave youe elf, or he may just up and leave.
Leppy my leprechaun, can't find him any where? Sure do miss talking to him. I think it was when i laughed at his wish, many years in Ireland. Leppy said to them, you can wish for any ting yer want, oil, gold, diamonds. dey said oh no we want dem dere patatoes... So he gave the oil to the middle east.

Tell that elf of yours to go back to Keebler. You're a poet in your own world, and that's all that's required to be "Ed the Poet". (Rufuz would agree.)

blessin's Mr. Poet, and courage always,
