Humor or horror...u decide...?

Darkness…

Darkness descends,

Fearful I do be,

When I cannot see,

No light bright enough,

Every sound scares me,

Glad I do have on my Depends…

A chilled wind does bring the scent of death,

Making me more fearful of the night,

The trees do shake their leaves,

I would rather stay where I know till daylight,

Though maybe that smell is just, blowing back on me, my breath…

Then comes the fog like a death shroud,

Why is it when I do hike the barrens the sky is full of clouds?

In my camper I would rather cower,

I wouldn’t mind so much, if surrounded I was by a crowd,

More than happy I would be if I were able to oversee this scene,

From the relative comfort and safety of a fire tower…

Comedy is often frightening and fear is often funny.

Always a good idea to wear Depends when hiking the Barrens - never know who, or what, you might meet!

I agree. It's kind of like watching Disney's version of the headless horseman, funny but scarey all the same. Thanks for giving us a good dose of both.

You be on the lookout for more mishief if you had to stay in a fire tower...and Rufuz's bark would travel all the way halfway round the world and wake me at real funny hours!!

hmm, I get to decide? ok, Bob, I mean Ed (wink), you have masterfully succeeded in accomplishing both humor and horror in this one. As always, I enjoyed reading this spendid work of yours. It was especially horrifying when I read the line "the trees do shake their leaves" (shuuuddder) BTW....no amount of sweet talk will make me call those tree doctors you spoke of!! lol..lol

The Wholly Book of Genesis by Jay Dubya

The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
