Poem Artwork

Water only up to his belly,

That’s when he started to be a nervous Nellie,

One wave crashed over him,

I never knew a dog that could not swim…

So who got to carry him ashore,

Yeah, that’s right, me, what a bore,

In years he was not much more,

Than one, but such a baby to the core…

A more chicken dog I never knew,

Though smart, he would poop on cue,

So he did not like much the sea,

I have to admit though he really did bond himself to me…

Like the poem, Ed. My 65 pound dog cannot swim. He panicked when we put him in a lake and still hasn't gotten over it.

Poor Rufuz but at least you saved him after you almost drowned him;-)
I have to admit though it's unusual for a dog not to swim.

Poor Rufuz! We hope he was alright and had no nightmares. In the end that he loves you so much is all that matters, to us, he'll always be a hero, no matter what.

Ed,

Rufuz is no baby; some people, some animals just don't like to swim. Karen can't swim, or even float; taken swimming lessons three times; me, not the greatest swimmer, but I can get by. And float? Yeah. For hours.

That's the way my Dad learned to swim, his parents threw him in Lake Erie, either sink or swim.

Rufuz, this time I'm on your side. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Ed,

Poor Rufuz had to get a soggy lesson to know he needs you as much as you need him.

Nice work!

Peace,

B

Well visualized poem here. Your pup isn't a :sea dog" but I'll bet he loves to run on the beach. I've never seen a dog that didn't love the beaches.
