Rufuz pulled me back from the brink, by jumping up on my bed and licking my face...who says dogs are not smart...?

Poem Artwork

Dressed in only underwear,

A robe wrapped around me,

Some kind of crystal ball in my pocket,

Offered a drink of water, my eye is falling out of its socket…

The water spiked with acid,

My mind seeing colors, & people, though nothing placid,

I have seen the Pacific ocean before I did die,

I need someone I could call for the moment an ally…

I am lost amidst a million faces,

Passing by, sitting, standing around,

The sun a ball of fire, lost am I, so many places,

No one willing to help, I hear a dog in the distance,

What is this but a relatively fearful existence…

Hi Ed. What a delightful read. It instantly reminded me of one of my favorite poets, Rod McKuen. Keep it up!

I'd sure not want to go on this trip...but glad Rufuz knew when to bark. From now on, take your own water with you!

And of all the million faces passing by and standing around you just watching, it is the slavering tongue of a dog that pushes them aside and breaks through to stir you back to reality!

Rufuz I owe you a big juicy steak with not one bone in it! Unless of course you like bones and then I'll find an even bigger one with a bone. Who ever offered you the water is no friend. I hate it when people make choices for you........thinking its all for fun. Idiots!

Sorry I am ranting......but this really pisses me off. Glad to know your okay, hugs for both of you.

Was it a dream or what us old hippies have always waited for, "the free ride" which of course has never come...sighs, just as well, I don't think I could handle it now anyway. I am glad Rufuz woke you, you were probably speaking in tongues and he was concerned because he couldn't respond to your commands..LOL
Take care,
Sherry

Not me, I think they are often far more intelligent than we humans.
And good thing he was there to save you!
