Ma, who of me gave birth

Mom, who thought she did me spoil

Mother, who beat me regular

Witch, sung the wicked witch of the east song

when she did die, did I…

My mom, who made the best dumplings (only thing done well)

My mom, who stuffed everything I didn’t like down my throat

My mom, who belittled my dad that he had to beat on me

to feel like a man…

Sorry I cannot make this more humorous

Closer maybe to the feeling murderous

My mom tried to kill herself a hundred times

Sure she was crying for help, but doing it in front

of her little boy was a crime…

…but I was better than her, I only tried suicide     25 times

...and have the scars to prove it…

I'm so sorry you had to go thru that! Childhood scars follow us into adulthood. Stay strong, my friend. Your family and Rufus need you! So does AD!

Ed it is wrong for a child to have to go through this, However I feel that you have become a better person and I am so glad that you did not succeed at suiside for we would have missed out on having you as part of our family and it is we who would have suffered the most.

Newfie hugs, Rose

Didn't experience all you went through but had a strict Mother who kept me from going the wrong way. Did try suicide once and realized it would only hurt my children and grandchildren so never again will I try. Realized how wrong it is after oldest daughter told me and gave me a lecture. Now to go on living and doing the best I can for people each day is satisfactory to me.

Heartbreaking write, Ed; am so sorry you went through this!! No child deserves to be treated like this by their mother (or their father, for that matter)! Know you are ever in my heart and prayers!

Everytime I hear "happy mother's day" I become like that crazy cartoon woodpecker. Sorry brother, we are in the same boat withouth a paddle, but at least we have the scars to show each other.

There are those days that should be happy celebrations...but leave some of us with other thoughts and feelings. Sad writing, Ed...and you put your feelings across well, as the reader can feel and sense the pain with which you wrote this.

Oh ED...It hurts my heart to know you had to grow up with this on your shoulders..and it does rub off. We have to be sssssoooooo careful as parents what we do, for we never know what affect our actions have upon our children, and others around us...The best I can offer you, is not sympathy my good friend, but empathy insomuch as I copped a pretty hard deal from my mother as well ( that's why I don't write bout mothers at all) BUT...I have found that to forgive that person, to let go of the hurt is the only way to truly heal. Trust me, it has helped me, and I never thought I could get over my own personal grievances..Now the only thing I want to see, before Mum's time is done, is for her to make her peace with God, and call me!! Yes, that's right, I want her to call me. You see I've tried calling her, but she just hangs up, or shouts n swears and on one occassion blew a whistle in my ear...So I rang back and blew mine off my handbag in her ear, then called her a most unsavoury name!!..You're Mum is gone, but it dosent mean that you can't forgive. I hurt for you ED, I know you're pain, it all seems so hopeless, but that hurt can heal. Please try it, give it a go, what do you have to loose? You may loose alot of unwanted baggage in the emotional dept.. I can't account for anywhere else though haha, I have that stuck to me too, like glue :):)

Oh Ed, I am so sorry. Today must have been very hard for you heaing Happy Mother's Day a million times. She was sick Ed, so don't let her damage your soul. Try to find pity for a very sick woman in that beautiful big heart of yours. If you can, it will take a heavy load from your heart. I promise. Love and prayers, Bonnie
