When first discovered,

Heroin was medicinal,

I think I lived in the wrong time,

Forget the herb,

Give me Bayer brand heroin,

For as little an amount as a dime…

Used opium for asthma,

And in different kinds of wine,

Bet that would make clean blood plasma,

I now don’t like wine, but would with an opiate,

Drink it with every meal while I do dine…

So, in the early 20^th century,

You could do all manner of powerful drugs,

There was no law against any of them,

So you’d just get high, and forget going to the penitentiary…
