Dead calm...

Not a waft of wind,

Not a current in the sea,

Not a way to move,

Just drifting you & me…

 

Sail unfurled in case,

Some wisp of wind,

Gives us a bit of pace,

Feeling without movement,

Both of us quite chagrined…

 

An island off the port bow,

Far away is it for right now,

We both sit on the forward prow,

Praying for a breeze so through the swells we may plow…

There's nothing worse than a dead calm, whether on the sea, or in life. I can feel your concern and your well-chosen words.
