Further on sleep or the lack thereof...

Poem Artwork

Managed to sleep tonight midnight to four,
So for all intents and purposes I am no longer sleep poor,
Of course I have been sleeping during the day of late,
As my night time sleeping schedule has been in a screwy state…

I’ve no idea the cause,
Could say medications, but there’s nothing new,
Maybe inside I am celebrating Christmas in July,
And trying to be awake to see the arrival of Santa Claus…

Sleeping in the daytime sucks,
With all the kids out playing, making noise,
And the sound of those plastic rideable trucks,
I wish their parents would have spent on something else their bucks…

A fellow from Joysey named Ed,
During the day took to his bed;
But the kids were noisy,
So he moved to Boise,
Where he sleeps well now it is said.

Love and peace and sweet sleep to you, Ed,

Regis

Sleep in a poetic context - very creative. I write at night and sleep when I can which is never enough. Drinking wine too late at night robs sleep and that I learned the hard way. Stay well...

I feel for you about the noise of those plastic toys.

Perhaps I can help you if I knew your routine. I don't know what you do, but if you avoid eating two or three hours before going to bed that might help. Contrary to what people think, midnight snacks keep people awake. Try to get as much physical exercise during the day like walking on the beach as you can, because that's good honest exertion that generally leads to a good sleep at night.

Perhaps it's your medications that have kept you awake. You might want to check with your doctor. I'm glad you've finally got a few hours of sleep.
