I awaken with a powerful desire,
It burns inside of me like a fire,
I cannot of it shake,
In my heart there is a stake…
I cannot even get out of bed,
Nor off my pillow raise my head,
My phone in my hand & “dialing”,
Now I am finally this morning smiling,
But the rush is temporary & beguiling…
Though it lasts for a couple of hours,
Long enough to run the battery down,
Still it brings on certain unexplainable powers,
Could it help in sending me into a nervous breakdown…?
It certainly can be addictive, but advantageous too...
My son has been in Jamaica this week,
and it's been great to keep in touch...
I hate it however when people visit, and are tap tapping
away on their phones....

At first I thought it was a LSD flashback, morning sickness related to a wet dream, or an urge to pee so bad that you just let go rather than getting up.
And then I find out it's your damn smart phone and its ability to hook you up to Facebook where you are obviously more than hooked… You're bamboozled!

When I first became a lover of the internet, I was on my computer for half the night...now it is the phone for many, that I'm not addicted.
Great write, Ed! I hear so many people talking about being addicted to their smart phones and computers. A little of it is O.K. but some people go to extremes and forget there are other things in life to do. Yes, "an unspoken devotion."!!!!!
Facebook is certainty a force to be reckoned with, Ed. Most of the time it pulls us into its clutches for hours at a time. I have missed you of late, and sorry to know that you seem to be suffering some aches and pains . . .
