“Dad Got the Lower Bunk in the End…”

As kids, Ed & Ray did fight,

Over who got the lower bunk,

Rather than climbing up a “flight”.

Ed as the oldest,

Pretty much got what he wanted,

Ray, on the other hand, the youngest,

Got what was left over, I can attest.

Thru life they went,

Growing up to have families of their own,

Either became the president,

Nor did their progeny.

Older they got,

Friends they lost,

Heading themselves to their final rest,

First Ed departed, his life light burnt out,

He was laid to rest in the lower plot.

Some years later, Ray did follow,

But he got stuck with the upper plot,

So in the end, the lower “bunk”, Ed got!
