Certain Writes are Overlooked…

What makes certain poems get read,

While others seem to be put to bed?

The ones I think are extremely funny,

Or are, at the very least, humorous,

Don’t seem to get much attention,

While the ones dealing with tragic events,

Or depression or negative issues,

And the ones that seem to be more of a vent,

They are the ones that readers seem more to “rent”.

Maybe I should name all my poems,

In a way to attract those that read them,

Be negative, depressive, and downright dark,

And all my poems,

From that point on,

Will be read and commented upon.

But that is just not me,

To suck someone in with visions of darkness,

Then to have them read something with candy canes,

And sugar and happy thoughts all aglow, so lame.

So, guess I will just have to keep going in the direction,

Of good humor, no not the ice cream, and hope for the best,

On this particular subject I do never jest,

So keep looking for, whatever I write, lest,

You will miss out on some wonderful, mostly funny poetry,

Am I wrong or am I right,

                               That is the test…
