Thin Monday & Hangover Thursday...

What is the purpose for Fat Tuesday?

Thin Monday & Hangover Thursday…

If Wednesday is Ash Wednesday,

And Tuesday, Fat Tuesday,

Shouldn’t Monday, it just stands to reason,

Be Thin Monday?

And Thursday can be Hangover Thursday, seems appropriate…

As my thoughts here congeal, I cannot see why,

Outside of New Orleans, any celebration is due,

For on Tuesday in that fat old town, what else is new?

They celebrate prior to the Ash,

They burn out their own brains, all for cash…

So why not make the day before and the day after special,

It can only make the purveyors of alcohol all the more rich,

Is the reason for Fat Tuesday to get drunk, piss in the street,

Puke on the lawns; show everyone some meat?

Or was there a more reverent reason at one time?

How did it get lost over the passage of all this time?

So I may not be making the irreverent & the revelers very happy,

But with this piece I say, I am just trying to help you not feel crappy,

On Hangover Thursday I will feel fine, but you will be at the end of your line,

Or in jail still trying to make bail,

From peeing in public or showing off your tail…
