Why are We all so Serious?

Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone...doesn't matter, both are good for you, let yourself go, be yourself, if one can do it, we all can...laugh then till you cry!

Why are We all so Serious?

I try to write what I know to be right,

Or then again maybe I don’t, what’s the plight?

I write to have fun,

Most days, others, well, you know?

Those are the days I really should shun,

But they are a part of me as well,

From myself I cannot run…

I like to make others laugh, what’s wrong with that,

I would have thought, by now, that is a plain fact,

When I try to enjoy a dream, granted it is not reality,

I don’t know, I guess I run into the word I hate with a passion,

                SERIOUSNESS!

Geez, how I hate to be, myself, or see others being serious,

It can make or break my day; here I don’t lie,

Guess I am not going to find a rhyme for serious, oh well, here I WILL lie

This is not for me an alias, (not a bad try, huh?)

I am not, as you know, very pious, (hey the last four letters matched)

I just want to make you all laugh, as best I can,

If not, well what good is the world?

Laughing is good for the immune system, I hear,

If not then all this laughing I have done, I have wasted my time, I fear,

Laughing is an exercise, better than that of walking, running or jogging,

It is said that laughing for one hour a week, will either kill you,

Or make you very weak, OR, it might just make you whole,

So now go, take ye self out to the movies or the show,

See that you laugh, see that you cry,

See that you do anything that will make you high,

Not on drugs, a pitiful way to find humor,

High on the self, high for the self, discover the self inside, laugh at yourself…

What a wonderful life if we could all just laugh at the self, more,

No more worrying, grousing about that which you cannot fix,

Or the woman/man you cannot get to meet, the one with whom you can’t score,

Laugh your way through life, make go away all your problems and strife,

Forget that you have disabilities, I know that is hard, but if you laugh,

The world will laugh with you, or at you, what does it matter?

Especially if you are dressed as that of a giraffe…

Enjoy your life; it may be the only chance you get,

To really see the real you, a funny person, I bet…

Find peace thru laughter…

Ed, laughter makes us more healthy. It keeps us from getting sick or helps us recuperate. It can be wonderful, but it can be terrible, too, especially if it's done in hatred with the desire to hurt. I'm quite certain that the mean kind of laughter is not what you're talking about. You're right our poetry should be more uplifting. Good write.
Love, Patty

You often have me laughing, that is why I do read a lot of your work :-) Laughing is great medicine. I watch very little TV. Most of what I do watch is comedy......have you noticed a lot of the comedy series seem to have ended? Wonderful write.
