Peace, love and Rock n' Roll...

Poem Artwork

Hippie Freak…

Long hair does not a hippie make,

Beards & mustache’ neither,

Tie die, bell-bottoms, and sandals, either,

None of the above does make a hippie a freak…

All those help, they make us wonder,

But what does it the best, is the way we THINK,

Freedom for us, for our peers, our friends, our enemies,

That is what makes a hippie what he is today…

Freedom from tyranny, freedom from war, freedom from oppression,

Freedom to do as we feel, to be who we are, to see who you are,

Freedom to live as we see fit, to live where we want, to live in a tent, or not,

Freedom to travel where we will, to eat what we want, to sleep with whom we want…

Peace, freedom, happiness; keep smiling, rock n’ roll music, open sex, all contribute,

To that of being a hippie freak…

My HIPPIE FREAK FLAG DOES AND WILL ALWAYS FLY!

PEACE, LOVE & ROCK n’ ROLL*

Even hippies have imposters as Ron pointed out. That group would be people misusing the word, Hippie. "Think" is the key :-)

I'm not against someone's belief, nor yours Ed. I know this is humor, but I guess I looked at the serious side of it. I would rather work and pay for whatever. I know everyone can't work, but they get free government help. Many don't.
Four bus loads of what looked like hippies stopped in town. They used the bathroom anywhere they stood, or squatted. Then they went from house to house asking for money; not food, but for cash.
Their cloths were ragged, and they all looked a dirty mess.
The clan of about 45 adults and 10 kids got ready to leave. They told someone they were headed for a state park to camp out. One of the buses wouldn't start, so they left it.
What kind of life is that for anyone?
I apologies for my out pouring.......

I always admired the hippies I met. They seemed so free. The truth was that they were often escaping their affluent parents who could always be called upon to wire a little cash when times got tough. One honest young fellow, Garret Pense, told me not to call him a hippie, but rather a hobo or bum, as he gladly accepted a ride in my luxury car and free lunch.
