My considered opinion.
Consider the Alternative We often hear people say... "Consider the alternative." What's to consider? Are we talking about the herafter? If so... no one has any idea of what that might be. So what's to consider? Do we still take our meds? Should we be concerned with diet, weight, wardrobe? Will we have to work, rest, exercise? Will we have a chance to meet folks who preceeded us? If so... I would love to meet Bill Shakespeare... and compliment him on being one of the first with a fashion statement... Pantyhose. So what's to consider? Anything? Methinks it is as the aforementioned Bill hath said... "much ado about nothing."

Nope, "consider the alternative" is simply put to someone who has a decision to make about doing something or not doing it. The phrase "consider the alternative" is said to him who might not decide to do make a choice, telling him if he doesn't make a choice bad things may happened to him because of it. First time I have ever heard anyone thinking in terms of dying and going to wherever they will go. Eh . . . It's your poem, go where you want to. Heh.Heh
