It is twenty five years since I wrote this first poem of mine.I now wrtie after a long long gap.
Thanks to all readers and authors at Author's den . The credit goes to all of you to have helped me find my voice again. This is my hundredth post ( A repost)in a year long sojourn here since I began last July.

Poem Artwork

The wind was snarling at my door all night

Romancing the rain

Rejoice  mystic nature divine

 Share the lovely delight

The first downpour  is waving down

Parched earth ,she gulps the limpid drops

It titillates her  senses with acuity

Like burning incense earth emits

Sweet fragrance in the odorous air

The glorious Sun now veiled beneath the misty sheen

Peeps to see little brooks gurgling again

Lonesome rambling streams soon flow

It spurts to kiss the dancing leaves

Listen to its resonating beat

A sound so rhapsodizing be

To taste the cascading drops

 Come croaking frogs, burrowing worms

The rainbow filters through turbid sky

Peacocks perch to preen pretty plumes dry

A lovely lament radiant fall

Sing o heavens , be joyfull all

 For this downpour from yonder

On this yielding union on earth

When the sky roars clothed in black robes

And the earth is waiting coyly.

Wow JK. Your word effect is phenomenal. Your lovely lovely poem wakes up my imagination. I see that rainfall and the sweet aroma of earth drifting in the atmosphere. Such a gem of a poem!

Roseline:

This is well written, considering that you wrote this 23 years ago only makes this poem all the more a wonder to read and digest its beauty!

Every year the coming of the monsoon is probably very momentous like you have described. Those of us with occasional rainfall year round do not realize the life-giving force that the monsoon brings to countries like India. In your poem I can see the great joy and unfolding that freshwater brings to a parched landscape awaiting a renewal.

It may be your first, but it remains, one of your best.

Very, very descriptive phasing within the body of this one, J.K., but then I find that to be true with most of your work.

Wow! You wrote this 25 years ago? That was before I was born, but...
you were quite a hotsy totsy wordsmith! This is a wild and sensuous
romp with Nature. It must have taken a good downpour to cool you down!

Beautiful descriptions. I could picture the wind and the rain in this piece and I loved the lines 'romancing the rain'and 'clothed in black robes'
