Perhaps color and substance in the mind may be better than a physical representation. Perhaps the lesser becomes the greater reality.
In the crimson time
Scarlet gave way to red oxide
And silver to pewter.
Gold became brass,
Copper to tin.
In this mine of my mind
So many shiny wonders
Became the dross of lost futures
A playmate disappointing,
Once invisible became real.
Once fantasy rooted in 3D,
Like a sculpture Pygmalion,
Better imagined.
For no flaws were there
Before breath was drawn.
This imperfect species
Like gazelles that don’t escape
Or cheetahs outmaneuvered,
Overheating in the African sun.
Like life breaking souls,
The elephants caressing the bones
Of the lost.
Mothers and grandmothers
Daughters and sisters
Gone away but not forgotten.
See the burning light?
The ones lesser become greater
A concept beyond reality,
More real than real.
I love swimming in your originality hoping that some of it will wash over me. This is not a glimpse of the African landscape, but a portrait of the mind that sees the three dimensional world through the prism of mental constructs. What a feast of words, thoughts, and a ideas from a true artist.
A poetic treatise examining reality over imaginings. One is left with imperfection as something to be embraced, not rejected. Your structure from the earth changing its life form, to the precariousness of animal life, to the all encompassing "lessor" light, that for this reader, transcends reality's boundaries. Much enjoyed piece of deep thought. Thank you for posting.
In a near-future Baltimore, an unemployed bipolar journalist and a teenage hacker are the last hope for a dystopian world controlled by a giant media corporation.
