A man or woman lays dying from a gunshot wound and dreams of a future without death, albeit requiring the earth minerals to make up an artificial body.

Poem Artwork

Shot sideways,
The split rib,
Traffic of the mind,
Survival screaming,
Painful breath
Heart kangaroos
In this land time left behind.

Out back?
Out back.

Behind the farm
In the Outback
Near the Uhuru rock
A cliff stone of red
On a barren flat continent.

Miles in all directions
Of sand and minerals,
The materials of sentient machines.
Yet away west, this Perth of mining
Of conveyor belts,
Of digging a hole into bury beer cans
To quench a day of piggin’.

So far away I gasp.
Walkabout became fear.
Hope became death.

My teeth grind
In this skull.
What will be…
Left of me?

Many anthropologist digs,
Many centuries to come,
We will transcend this biology
With geology.
This blood drowning me from you.

While we are fragile and last only a short time, the minerals that make up our bodies come from the stars and have existed longer than our solar system, even our galaxy. Slowly, geology unearths fragile life from long ago.

From here, Odin says it best.

You have circumscribed a future that shows much creative thought that mere mortals might call fanciful. Artists and poets have no such limitations binding them, and for that, we have DW, a gift that keeps on giving.

what is the common between the two giants, Man and Earth, is that both operate according to the third part's will styled Heaven. . . an artificial body? Why not. Take a look at the changing of time called the future, which is actually today, the three in one. Cheers, alex

The relationship of biology and geology is inseparable as your poem suggests. The underlying concern is how much of the future's geology will be made up body's turned to fossils, bodies that bled out, wars, domestic, corporate, etc. An awful thought, but real, even today. Mixed with the beer cans and other debris, the future may exercise digs that will not unearth fossils, but instead decayed junk, and remnants of war, weapons and twisted bodies as well. Nothing like the unearthing of Egyption tombs, or Africa's discovery of where we came from, much to the chagrin of those who choose to believe in fantasy. Very well conceived and executed. A thought process that deserves more cognitive evaluation as we think about the human species come the next millennium. Yes, the geology will be there, but nature of biology is likely to change radically.
