What's so great about sleep?
With sleep comes the dulling After so long awake Reprogramming in the dark Wires frayed Melted Crossed Sparking Smoke clouded brain Like a 1950’s living room Or bar No one’s there for health They’re all there to laugh a bit As they practice dying A slow roll out an engineless plane Hurtling toward earth In nanoseconds of eighty years So why sleep?

Danae, you are the Savant of the Northwest. You have diagnosed my malfunctioning circuitry well, especially my sleep deprivation and that living room/bar scene. Whence comes such wisdom? And what can be done about it? I guess the Big Crash will tell the rest of the tale.

There are so many ideas about sleep and avoidance. Many people sleep but a few hours a night. For me, it's the proverbial 8. But there are times, not unlike your shared experience here, that arrest unique ideas about the nature of sleep, leaving me often with the same last thought: So why Sleep? Loved the succinct way you weaved your own unique interpretation.
