Caught in a crossfire-

Bullets looking for a home.

Face can't dig down low enough,

As I hear each sound.

Will they make a last charge

And find me buried with fear.

One first look at the enemy

As a bayonet pierces my heart.

All of a sudden there was no sound-

I had my rifle at the read,

Wondering will I be killed

Or have to kill to live.

Such are thoughts in war

Kill or be killed to even the score,

No malice for the enemy

Comes into your mind.

But when you see your buddies

Killed before your eye's.

It's then you have a hatred

For this unseen enemy.

War or any tragedy of any sort when it involves
a friend causes ill feelings. Shock and horror
and a need for vengeful feelings. Just like
what is going on now over our Ambassador and
the three other Americans killed. It's all
senseless and we need answers.

Good thoughts for those who have those sort
of feelings George

I can't speak from experience, George, but I can take your words at heart and understand them.
