Curtain Call

Before this play ends
he will be loved again
Decades with one
in youth and later
Prior to the illness
which closed a theater

Somewhat into his time
he is to love again
Finding the actress
to play his opposite
In parts demanding
award performances

The future a climactic
and inevitable finale
Acting out their own
freshly inspired lines
Taking long curtain calls
to sustained applause

William,

I enjoyed your analogy to a curtain call...among many curtain calls...but not yet the Final Curtain Call and having spent a great deal of time in the theatre myself, I know how no one performance of any play is the same as the first or the next performance. Such is life ...each day ... each year ...each relationship is lived with is own nuances.

I enjoyed reading...

The theater has been a big part of my life, and I loved your analogies with a theatrical production, the actual theater, and the final curtain call with our life, our bodies, and our deaths. Very well done.

Blessings,
Sharon

Such a well written poem my friend, a bit mystical...made me think of someone's passing...a very thought provoking write indeed! I enjoyed this very much, I like to read works that compells me to go back and read more than once, making me delve deep within the write while sparking my own imagination...the last two lines of the first stanza, makes one think of their own death and the closing of their own casket...deep write my friend, one I think I will revisit again maybe in a few days and see what my thoughts are...enjoyed!
Blessings,

This poem left me with the lingering feeling about my final curtain followed, perhap, by a final applause...if any.
Well written.

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone
