Oh the times we talked about so many insignificant
things except when we spoke of our renewing love.
That unique way of wearing your hair was fair game
as I kidded you into some of our longest arguments.
One fond memory was your trying to convince me
that I would look silly sporting a new mustache.
Then there was the time you let me know that no
new babies would have boarding rights with us.
How I wish we still had that roadster with a rumble
seat making too much noise for hearing our voices. .
We could go on for hours recalling all the god-awful
tricks our kids played on us and how we retaliated.
Our favorite was reminding the other of how we
whispered our way through two hours in the library.
As I was saying - many of our conversations were
almost classics - and unbelievably entertaining, too.
You know what I treasure most? Those conversation of total silence.. and yet every word was heard. You have penned a special piece here, my dear friend.
Good converstations: those are the memories we want
to hang on to, the kind of memories that make us realize
there should have been more time for talk. -gene.
