It happens when one of us begins to feel left out
like the times we're so busy with our own lives
we lose appreciation for
what is going on with our partner
With that goes the feeling that
what we have done is all that matters
It's true that each of us is only a bit player in
another's major production
but in a caring relationship
this practice is ridiculous and unfair
Who isn't aware that the basic commitment in
a couple's agreement for peace and the future is
to strive to keep our partner in first place at all times
The nitty gritty in all of this is that
we are not children so we should think - talk and
expect to be treated as a mature adult
Our foibles can be tolerated but
smooth and loving relationships are best
when two persons work constantly at
treating the partner the way
each would like to be treated
Amen to that! I always tell my children that a marriage or relationship being 50/50 is wrong.. it's 100/100 or it doesn't work.. well said, my friend.. love ya, M
Dear Bill, I just discoverd your writes. I have a problem with people who feel themselves left out. Yes, I agree with you that we are so busy that many of our family members and friends are gone forever without having the time to see them or to comfort them. I like this Stanza:
