An old tale I poetically made for laughs.Just because a cat's got stripes don't make him a Tiger.
Jury Duty
Harold was chosen for jury duty, but he really wanted to get out
He wanted to be with a good looking girl that he was crazy about,
He tried every ploy that would get him excused , but the judge had nixed everyone
On the day of trial . he was desperate, something had to be done,
He asked the Judge for a conference , pled this when they met,
“Your Honor, I’ve found that man there guilty, a fair trial from me he can’t get,
I know I should be impartial and let the story , do the speaking,
But my mind is made up and your release from this jury, I am seeking,
See, I took one look at him and saw a straight out guilty case ,
Beady eyes set close together, narrow forehead and a thin dishonest face,
His scowling look, Hair slicked down and nervous shifty eyes,
I can hear him now blaming the Cops with a packet of lies,
And look at that fancy suit and , buckled up shoes he wore,
Probably got’em half price at the local good will store,
So you see Your Honor, I must be dismissed , I cannot be fair and independent
The Judge replied, Get back in the jury box, you fool. That man is the lawyer for the defendant
They will never pick me as I always tell them I have a felony conviction and I get out of it everytime...I had a feeling you were going to say something about the lawyer because they are always shifty looking...:) -e-
I burst out laughing even though I knew it was coming. Now that's the sign of a good joke.
Last night while watching Just Call Saul, Jimmy, a screwup lawyer who is rather slovenly and not very slick, is sitting on a bench eating fast food when a man described just like the one in your poem sits down beside him and they start talking. The guy can't keep his hands from Jimmy's French fries and keeps wolfing them while they are talking. Turns out this sleazy guy is the prosecutor that Jimmy hopes to get as he is prosecuting attorney for the crimes his brother has accused him of. The bribery of a fast food lunch doesn't work because even though the sleazy guy even takes the hamburger, he has been told that none of the prosecutors from that county who know Jimmy will prosecute the case.
That show has some very good writers (I believe the same ones that wrote Breaking Bad).
