GOODBYE OLD FRIEND

The world is changing.

Forests are dying.

Ice caps are melting.

Our friend no longer.

Days are warmer.

Rain falls harder.

Earthquakes rock the planet.

Hurricanes bring the winds.

Ocean waves dance to the deadly tune.

Bow to our new foe, Mother Nature.

Crime does its fair share.

Nature cleans the slate.

Towns and cities topple

Beneath the vast rubble.

The water hits my face

As the waves rise in place.

Rocks and debris are

Thrown into the wind.

The ocean has come ashore.

I don't know what this is for.

My eyes tear as I mourn

the ocean’s lost beauty.

I search for my old friend,

But she is gone from sight.

Where is my old friend

who had soothed my fears?

She is long gone.

And so will we.

A most apt and timely write considering man's complete disregard and abusive behaviour towards our planet (and Mother Nature). Love and peace,

Regis.

The 'birth pangs' are increasing exponentially. The Earth, very soon, is going to give birth to something.

It's eons of civilization and "progress" have tortured Her, Mother Nature. (and is she pissed!)

Love ya!

You are absolutely right. When we lose our old friend, the sea, we will be gone.

What have we done? Centuries of Greed and pillaging the earth now the planet is saying "Enough" yet we are still deaf.

I hear a sad poetic tone. It's as if you have been left all alone. God is with us all the time. He will fill that void in our hearts in good time. Tomorrow is a new day. Amen

All of this destruction around us is nothing more than earth's immune system kicking in, and we're the ones getting kicked.

Indeed, Mother Nature will have its way with us; it is so much bigger than our little world. A fine post.

mother nature has her way of balancing the scales and letting us know who it is that is in charge on this her planet. we can but live in her world until we cross over the threshold of another

Thank you, Susanne. To hear the clamor from the "others" you would think Man is the only reason our world seems to be falling apart. Seems you have a clever mind of your very own. Thank you.

WE HAVE THIS CONSOLATION; THIS EARTH, WHICH IS TEMPORARY, IS BUT A 'SHADOW' OF THE BEAUTIFUL THINGS TO COME AND ITS DEPARTURE MAKES WAY FOR A NEW PERMANENT, PROMISED EARTH...WHERE THERE IS NO NIGHT, NO TEARS AND NO MORE PAIN EVER! WONDERFUL INSIGHT...THE ABILITY TO 'LET GO' IS INDEED A BITTER-SWEET BLESSING! THANKS FOR SHARING. CONTINUED LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
