Ode To A Fragile Heart

I

Sunlight falls through prisms

Of sadness and sorrow -

As I struggle to find elusive peace

Desiring to master words -

So that I might sketch,

The wind and the morning

That covers her nakedness

With a fine purple mist,

A mist that dissolves her

Into a sky of fleeting dreams

II

Naked figurines dancing,

Upon the face of clouds

I tell myself I have tasted,

The ambrosia of her lips

But I know I have lied,

The lie of poets and dreamers

III

Oh, pierce my side with the sword

Of truth - so I might bleed

Into rainbows of sorrow - into the light

Of this rose colored dawn

Cut me with the sword of regret,

So that I can sit and ponder

The tragic scenes of this life,

Of this dark world of inconsistencies

A world where poets are poisoned,

By the cripled hands of sin and corruption

IV

Cover me, oh night of naked needs,

Cover me with a blanket of moss

As I lay me down to sleep,

In the shadows of a lonely tree

Cover me.
