Poem Artwork

***************************************************************************************************************************

Another near miss,

It’s really bizarre.

As the fourth squirrel today

dashed in front of her car.

Nearly smooshing each one,

as she slams on her brakes.

Her handbag goes flying,

and her hands start to shake.

What is the point

of this sick little game?

To touch moving tires and

back out again?

The fifth squirrel is waiting.

She sees him ahead.

She knows the plot’s hatched

in his fuzzy gray head.

He assumes the position…

Ready, Set, Go!

Darting into the street.

Her car starts to slow.

“For heaven sakes MOVE!!”

She shouts at thin air.

It’s stupid to reason with

squirrels who don’t care.

She imagines his buddies

“high five-ing” with glee.

Bonus point!! Score!!!

If her car hit a tree…

She used to like squirrels

But now they’re a drag…

It’s best to avoid

squirrels playing tag!!!

Quite the 'tail', Michelle - finely penned! *I once caught a squirrel by climbing-up a tree and acting like a nut. Does that count? Thanks for this great prose! Robert.

My dog loves to play tag with the squirrels too, he never catches then, doubt he would know what to do with it if he did, but it is funny to watch...a quite very funny posting, Michelle...Peace thru Humor, Ed & Rufuz
