Somber time...

Poem Artwork

The Raven’s Dirge

Alas, I now can feel the weight of eternity

Press my shoulders to the cold hard ground

Desperate I try to stand or even understand

Though ‘tis true , no solace can be found

Ye loving loyal friends I cannot hold

No not for I, for I am a solitary man inside

Hanged by too many bestowed sorrows

Merely more old secrets tinged with pride

Nay, ‘tis not your pity I do ask of you

Nor the warmth of tender sympathy in the night

Neither salty teardrops o’er that slab of rock

Marking my trip to darkness from the light

Aye, just know I walked tall and if I failed

‘Twas not for lack of this bard’s loving heart

As Poe’s ravens sing my final parting dirge

‘twill be  bitter sweet the twilight time I do depart…

There are times to have a light heart, and there are times to have heavy ones, but as we will not dwell for long in darknes we have the right to vent our rage, with words...before we lose our senses and throw the pen and take a sword.

"... too many bestowed sorrows ... bitter sweet the twilight time I do depart"

Such heaviness in your heart --- or is it JUST a poem? I only know you from your writings, which have always lifted my heart. There has been a semi-truck full of sorrows in my life, but with the grace of God, He managed to keep it from going over the side of a cliff. If you want to 'talk' send me a personal email through my AD den.

I pray that God will continue to give you strength and comfort. He's right beside you.

God bless you,
Kathy

Poe came right to mind when I read this. My hope is that the sunrise can fill the darkness. Hope all is well.

Fee? This had best be a muse writing!!! Anything else will not be tolerated! You are a TREASURE, a poet supreme! The poem is great but worries me greatly!
You have a great many friends who care for you and love you. Your writing is great!

EXCELLENT! I see a one legged shadow walking and stopping, musing with a groveling voice...speaking aloud so he can hear himself. He speaks the language of the past and yet...the paper says it is today!
This is sooo good Fee. You excel iin poetry like this.
Love,
Susan
