Bedtime Stories

By: Fee

When the sandman’s seems on vacation

As you snuggle cozy in your bed

To visit soft dreams of love and romance

Desire spinning freely in your head

You read your book of bedtime stories

Of white knights on bended knee

Who kiss your lips and whisper love

The way you wish that things could be

Of lover’s hand in hand strolling beaches

Timid kisses ‘neath an Autumn moon

Of poet’s words and romantic dates

That always end just a little bit too soon

Of hot steamy nights in tangled silk sheets

Waking up held in two strong arms

Stories of happy endings and love ever after

Memories of your true lover’s charms

Her eyes begin to flicker, flicker, flicker

She bookmarks the page with a smile

Turns out the lamp and pulls up the covers

And drifts off into dreamland for a while…

Reminds me of my niece and her romance novels. If only our lives could be like those between the pages. But then, what need for writers? Flows wonderfully, Fee, like pages that keep turning...

Every girl dreams of the man who will sweep her off her feet--her knight in shining armor. Perhaps we never outgrow our bedtime stories, the characters just grow up.

So beautifully done. I have just finished reading a story just like this yet alas I can't dream yet...so sad for I had hoped it would prompt such a dream. Where has my dream maker gone? Lady J
