The Day After

I filled the last Christmas stocking

Placed the last gift under the tree

I hugged one more little baby

Held one last child who sat on my knee

I made sure all my little elf helpers

Were all tucked in snug and tight

All the reindeer were watered and fed

Oh my gracious, it was such a long night

I ate one last chocolate chip cookie

Sipped my hot chocolate with glee

Turned off all the twinkling lights

On my own Christmas evergreen tree

Now my eyes are growing heavy

I dream of warm sand and palm tall

My work is done for another year
