"Be my Valentine so red",
the alabaster vampire said.
The werewolf raised his shaggy head;
"Be my Valentine," he said.
"My Valentine! I need you most!"
objected the transparent ghost.
"You should be mine. That's what you think,"
stated the romantic shrink.
"You're mine! Of that, I'm quite convinced,"
declared the cloaked and tighted prince.
"Mine!" snapped the starry-hatted wizard,
"Unless you'd rather be a lizard?"
"Be my Valentine, be mine!"
"No. Be mine!" "Be mine! "All mine!"
The pretty girl both flounced and jiggled,
then remarked with a merry giggle;
"All right, you blokes, I know! I know!
You love your costumes for our show.
But get them off - it's half past nine.
I won't be anyone's Valentine."
Up rose howls - collective sorrow,
Moans and groans from the script they borrowed
Amateur actors in distress;
All in love with the wardrobe mistress -
"Be my Valentine?" they hollered.
"Good night," she said. "Next fitting's tomorrow!"
