A few days ago a small tornado touched down in our back yard!

Dark strom clouds were gathering in the eastern sky. The afternoon was overcast. The smell of rain hung in
the damp air.

Soon rain drops started falling, first in a light drizzle , then became harder as gusts of wind blew it every where.
The rain turned into hale the size of small beads.It pelted the ground relentlessly.

We heard a roar and looked out the dining room window.
The view of the lake in the back yard was obscured by a dark gray funnel cloud which was quickly moving toward our house.

Trees limbs and leaves flew in all directions as the wind whipped them about with its strong force. The hail came with strong gusts of wind.

The heavy metal screen room was lifted and tossed across the lawn like a piece of cardboard. A large heavy plywood box which covered our submersible well pump was thrown about thirty feet onto the lawn.

The tornado lasted only a few seconds before it left, leaving a small trail of destruction behind .

When the rain stopped , we went outside to survey the damage.

The Screen room complete with canopy , lay across the road in shambles about 250 feet from where it once had stood. The well house plywood cover was near our garden. It was still intact. The pvc pipes to the well were broken and cracked.. Lawn furniture was scatterd every where as were tree limbs , branches and palm frons.

Every thing was fixable except our screen room. We counted our blessings, glad more damage had not been done to our home.

This expierece has made us more aware of the uncontrollable forces of mother nature and its wrath......
