Looking outside my window my eyes were searching for the Global Warming in a frozen world being castigated by the mother of blizzards and I wondered....

Poem Artwork

From my darkened window the outside world
was wearing its magnificent bride’s gown,
with a tiara made of city lights from far away,
in the center of the heart, the center of the town,
nuptials between a careless and slowing Time
and coming like a blizzard coolest Jack Frost,
we weren’t invited but to crash their party
as the ones that really were left out in the cold.

Not a good time to be homeless on icy streets,
under the bridges, trying to huddle the warmth,
Salvation Army soup gets you going few hours,
then, hunger will continue chewing your bones,
buses with its misty windows hurrying away
people thinking only to get back to their homes
to the fire places and TV dinner, the homeless
remembering those days when people had a job.

Not different this winter of ours to man or pet,
looking outside one is forced to hear the moans,
like a pack of wolves howling to a frozen moon
on our little cosmos, twisting tails in such uproar
for a wind that coming from Siberian tundra’s
with foreign scents of ices that are of eons old,
a land that saw the Mammoth freezing to death,
where no man as yet wandered conquest before.

Plummeting down, Celsius or Fahrenheit…
the birds that didn’t go south are out there now,
I can’t imagine that a few small feathers
can keep the little things, in that blizzard, warm,
as I look outside my Oxelosund iced window
realizing winter can’t touch me, how lucky I was,
remembering a oppressing hot jungle with bullets,
when sweating I wished then, for a winter’s cold.

Sweden Oxelosund’s winter, looking outside…
ours not all that different season…than yours.

Such warm expressions during such a cold and bitter night. Yet, I can hear the love between the lines...

Be always safe,

This is really very beautiful Georg. I love the idea of the white snow and lights being likened to a brides gown and tiara. Gorgeous picture too. Hugs

What an absolutely perfect description! But the season here might be a tad different than yours, but they did dog up a mammoth recently, had a collar on it. Engraved....G.E.M

But couldn't you just keep the snow of Sweden's winter in Sweden? NJ does not need it, nor do I...(the E-devil, Ed)

I feel the warmth of a fire as I look out your window upon the glories of winter that need to feed the season before the spring shows its face. Beautiful poem bro Georg!

AHHH...YOU PHRASES DRAW SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE! AND WHAT A BLESSING IT IS INDEED...TO BE INSIDE LOOKING OUT...NOW... REMEMBERING TIMES WHEN THINGS WERE VERY, VERY DIFFERENT; THOUGH THE AIR WAS 'HOT' ONES SOUL WAS 'FROZEN' FROM THE PRESENCE OF DEATH AND SUFFERING THAT SURROUNDED THEM. TRUELY, ONE CAN ONLY GREATLY APPRECIATE THE LOVING GOD WHO HAS KEPT AND BROUGHT ONE...THROUGH IT ALL. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WORK AND MUCH BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOURS. LOVE, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Absolutly a wonderful write Georg, as though I were there looking through your window and then running to catch the warmth of the fireplace, snuggled down watching a good movie and sipping back a cold Coors.
My mind is always on the homeless this time of the year, I just wish I could shelter all of them but I can't and Fred keeps remindind me of that.

This is so beautiful how you describe Georg
I love the first stanza of her beauty
the marriage crown
the ceremony feel...
even the cold homelessness unfolds your mastery
to the world of poetry
this vision of your own self very beautiful & caring

Your painting touches the heart deeply Georg, it shows how most of us vunerable at any time, can be the pawn of nature in its raw elements, only good hearts that share warmths can make a difference.
Many times I felt catching those poor frozen feathered angels, and taking them into bed with me, but then we can mostly help only humans and a few creatures, even that seems a burden now, for so many hearts have hardened, no. Hugs! Jasmin Horst

Not a good time to be homeless on icy streets
For man, pet, or beast.

How so sadly true; a most interesting view and perspective from your winter window, brother. And when I magnified that picture, I found a man huddled out there in the cold, feeding those freezing little birds. I wonder, could it be The Bird Whisperer??!!
