The sun diminished, growing colder and more distant
as toxic air pressed heavy upon this ecosphere.
Birds ceased to sing and all the colours faded to grey.
Only Spanish Moss decorated blackened trees, reaching
like the arms of the undead towards each living thing.
All the troubles in the world raced helter – skelter
towards the safety of Pandora’s box, throwing hope
upon the midden heap of civilisation.
Mountain ranges of purple – grey clouds stacked
upon the horizon and lightening forked into witches fingers
to scratch the cowering ground. Fear and Panic bred like
plague rats in the streets and alleys of blighted cities.
The hounds of hell fled, yelping like frightened pups,
somewhere in an ocean’s darkest abyss The Kraken stirred.
Among the caves and hidden valleys of far distant, half explored countries swarthy men with Beards of Mass Destruction incubated conspiracies that sucked like parasites on the arteries of reason. Moloch, Beelzebub and
their demon hoards took up the cross, garlanding garlic
around their necks to ward off the scourge of darkness.
 

A mitred bishop called out as he burned
the symbols of his faith, "flee brothers and sisters,
save your souls, for The End of Days is upon us."
And then my disbelieving eyes saw a billboard
that announced……
"Miley Cyrus Has Released Another Record."
