Yes, I had heard those things people said
About me... about others... about differences...
While 'they' divided us up into our assigned slots
Of normal and (feigned gasp) abnormal.
As a child I had no clue of my slotted distinction
And paid little attention
To whispered innuendo of imperfection;
The years brought with them much clarity, however,
And soon I understood some things
That 'they' never did...or possibly refused to.
My flawed vision erased the differences of the obvious,
Allowed me to see what lay beneath-
Beyond learned perceptions and expected limitations.
But it really did not matter to me...
Because I had never held their differences
Against 'them' in the first place.

This is a shortcoming of mine, that I have never read a poem of yours, and I find I must have missed a lot. This ended on a positive note and that to me is excellent poery. Victor
