Question: Do we curse the heat or praise the rain. Do we curse the sun or glorify in the clouds. I guess its another question like, “Is the glass half full or half empty?”

Poem Artwork

It rained last night; a relief from the summer drought.

I woke up this morning and when I went out

I noticed the sky had cleared and the sun shined from the east side.

What clouds that appeared, were sparse as if trying to hide.

They had moved high into the ionosphere above the birds.

They were floating gracefully in the air; both the clouds and the birds.  This was hard to describe with mere words.

The moisture left by last night’s storm made the air heavy and moist.

I watched as the flowers, trees, grass and wildlife rejoiced.

Today became hot and the humidity was like that of a steam bath.

But the ground was moist and soft as I walked down the path.

As the sun raises up higher into the sky the ground and the trees

Rejoice only in the summer’s lightly blowing breeze.

For this is their only source of relief from the burning summer heat.

Until finally the evening comes and the sun makes its retreat.

A profound write my friend...rich imagery, enjoyed this one much! Our temps soared to 102 today in Kentucky...but can't really complain, just glad to be here! It could always be worse....watching the news makes me count my blessings...
Blessings,
Joyce B.

I would love to see your day stay for a while. I wonder if it will ever rain again beneath these three digit temps? Your poetry made this moment feel better. Thank you.
