Friday evening we had a thunderstorm and the Internet connection dropped. When it came back, my eMac was corrupted and wouldn't connect. Am working with a cobbled connection to my iMac until I get the damage repaired on my eMac... oh goody.

Poem Artwork

I love computers, there's no doubt.
They work for me, day in and day out.
They work for me, until they crap out,
and then they crap on me.

Yippee!

My soul is in the computer in binary code.
It is not written down like some old ode.
It is not written down like some I sold.
And then they rip my heart out.

Shout!

They told me to unplug in a thunderstorm.
Several devices plugged in around here is the norm.
Surge protectors connected to save them from harm.
And then they break my arm.

Darn!

I hate my computers when they do this to me.
I want my computers to set me free,
not do some damn number on me,
and then make me take a hit?

Shit!

I hate my computers when they are bad.
I hate my computers when I am sad.
I hate my computers enough to be bad.
Get out my gun and shoot.

Reboot!

Guess I'll just have to eat my crow.
Off to the computer store I will go.
Pay for the fix so my addiction will grow.
Bloodsucking ho!

So? Where do I go from here?

I love this, Ron! Many will be able to relate no doubt. I hope your computer troubles are far behind you now. Love and peace to you,

Ron, frustrating beasts when they have decided to cause us grief -- truly, from my perspective, computers are the machine world's, Jekyll & Hides -- electrostatically etched binary codes bristleing in brimstone sometimes -- at other times creative servants assisting us in all manner of efforts -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

Good one; sad that it's true. I feel as you; I'm think my slow/old one is responsible for my "neck pain" day in and out now. Surge protectors? I wonder too, what do they protect. Around here when there's a T-Storm I 'm home so I unplug and unplug that modem cord BUT half the time I'm using it and we get TS's everday!
Welcome to COMPUTER HELL!

I can't imagine life without my computers. Love the binary code/soul line. Thanks for the laugh.

You need a bit of time away from the comp I reckon
Go out and see the real life
You might end up a computer junkie if you don't
You know what I mean buster ?

It really is a love/hate thing we have with our machines, isn't it? I hate when they break and I am without for a few days. I have taken to keeping an old one just as a back up, damaged segments and all. It is better to freeze once an hour and have to hard boot than to be without a computer all together. Sadly, these machines become our most intimate of friends, keeping safe all of our secrets and hidden desires. I can totally relate to this poem, Ron. Thanks for the grins, and the moment of empathetic bonding.
Take care,
Sherry

Surge protectors and battery backup with power shut off and one trusty external hard drive which backs up automatically each week. Most people forget that if even if they disconnect the plug on the computer they forget the phone cords or land cords. Sorry to hear it got the computer...that is a bummer to wake to. LadyJ
