You scratch mine, I'll scratch yours.

Poem Artwork

My Craned Neck

Itchybod Crane

As I stretch my neck,

point my mouse like a pick,

watching three screens,

in some musical chairs refrain.

I toil day into the night,

stretching and straining to watch,

while carving a new notch,

400 million tokens in the game.

So what do I get for all that strain?

My neck in a deliberate crane.

Itchy eyes, itchy face, itchy bod,

may even have an itchy brain.

I go off itchy into the night,

aloe vera covered cream,

adding to the itchies,

until I could scream!

Scratch me, scratch me,

scratch me if you can!

I won't run from you at all,

take it all like a lamb.

Have you ever noticed,

that the more that you scratch,

the itchier you get,

like this poem to match.

Ron, I love how you turn the pain into joy in this poem! I am 76 soon to be 77 this year, early in my life I had something called nummular eczema. It was terrible, I almost scratch my self to death, the doctor treated me with a lot of things! But my greatest enemy was stress! He gave me special creams, And I kept my fingernails cut and used Aveeno soap for a while, and found Dove soap did the same thing , and now I still use Dove soap to wash my body, and when I bathe, afterwards I cover my body with olive oil and to loosen, The olive oil it a little bit you could add, just a drop a clear baby oil and
mix them all together! My skin now looks like a teenager, all the black spots are gone Of course I always believed in prayer, so I mixed all of these, thanks for The poem Brother!

I appreciate the touch of wry humor in your poem, Ron. I think this whole world/life is/are "itchy" in so many ways right now. The heat and the smoke (I can smell it in my home right now) make it seem almost surreal. Even the sun has trouble peeking through... ...but its heat is relentless. Love and peace to you, Ron.

LOOKS LIKE IT'S REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE. ALOE VERA IS GOOD BUT WATCH OUT WITH THE SCRATCHING. IT'S BETTER TO 'RUB' THAN SCRATCH. HOWEVER, SINCE WE'RE IN A TIME WHERE I AM SURE EVERY HOUSEHOLD HAS RUBBER GLOVES...PUT THOSE ON BEFORE SCRATCHING BECAUSE YOU CAN CAUSE AN INFECTION FROM YOUR NAILS, AND THAT'S THE LAST THING YOU WANT. I SEE YOU SUBMITTED THIS A FEW DAYS AGO, HOPE IT'S IMPROVED BY NOW. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPISRATIONS

Sounds bad, but noble of you to find the humor of it all. Kudos. Hope the itchiness has subsided by now.

I'm finding that my partner scrubs me quite vigorously with soap, drying my skin out. And as I age my skin gets drier while autonomic dysreflexia causes intense sweating multiple times a day. Add to that that there are many itches that most people scratch without thinking, I cannot reach and scratch many places around my head, especially in bed without the help of gravity.

I do have tremendous neck strain that didn't show because the picture was taken in the morning instead of at night where my neck muscles look like I'm being strangled. The strain is over use of the mouse, the difficulty with clicking and the struggle to keep up right while leaning forward in my wheelchair.

Thank you for all your concerns, but this is generally standard fare for the quadriplegic. I have had long-term Seborrheic Dermatitis caused by stress as a result, but that has subsided considerably in retirement.

The poem was meant to be humorous. I'm glad that some of you caught that. ;-)

You probably had the hives. I once had it all over my body itchy as hell. I had to call for an ambulance to take me to the hospital. It was due to some bath oil I was allergic to. The doctor gave me a shot and within an hour or so the hives was gone. Try taking Benadryl if you're itchy again.

Oh goodness that looks very irritated…..
Made me feel itchy too…
Clever integration and weaving this affliction
into the poem…
Hope it’s subsided for you now…

That looks pretty bad. Hope it subsides. Alluding (humorously in your title) to the protagonist in Washington Irving's 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' was effective. r

Itching is the body's way of telling you you made a mistake somewhere at sometime, either in thought or deed.
