This is one of the humorous poems from my book, "Dressed Inside Out."

Struck with a brilliant epiphany
I decided to climb my garden tree
In the back yard it stood in majesty
I scampered up limbs just like a monkey

I felt free with the breeze through graying hair
I looked at the aky, the weather so fair
And then I made a very dumb mistake
Looked down. Not another breath could I take.

I grasped the trunk with all my strength and might
I shook and trembled and freared for my life
I pondered my dilemma filled with fright
I looked and couldn't find a soul in sight.

"Hey lady, Hey lady, you stuck up there?"
Looking up at me two neighbor boys stared
Dressed in capes and swords they looked about seven
They couldn't be help sent down from heaven?

"Hey, we've never seen old women climb trees.
We really think you look kinda funny."
Pondering my keen humiliation
I couldn't let them see my frustration.

"Go away boys, I'm relaxing up here.
Aren't your mothers calling, missing you dears?"
"Nah, they know we're out fighting crime. We've no fears."
"Get matches and go play in the street, ya hear?"

I couldn't believe the words I had uttered.
The boys just stared up at me in wonder.
I scampered down the tree like a felon.
"Cookies-back at my house." I pushed them on.

The boys were delights with crumbs on their cheeks.
After they left, I sat down in relief.
I just couldn't believe my idea had stunk.
My nerves were shot. So, I got good and drunk.

Sometimes it seems these kinds of situations are created on purpose to give us courage and help us grow.

Good write Elizabeth, humorous, with a loose moral ...
