Poem Artwork

The sea calls to me with her calming power
this most unforgiving body of hues of blue
is most gentle in the time of grievous need.

Cleansing the mind with the sounds of the surf
attuning the senses with aromatic delight
serenading with the melodies of gulls
the caress of the waves removes all debris
and my heart is once again free and pure.

I follow the path where sandpipers played
discovering a heretofore unseen shell
put it to my ear and hear the call of distant shores
ruled by her, my mother, the magnificent sea
who acknowledges all as her children.

The time will come that I will not leave here
on these hills of water what remains shall be set free
tis then I shall follow her lead and travel on
through the vast dimensions of this, her realm.

For now I am content to partake of this gift
the wonder she so generously bestows
this supremacy of nature we mortals call the sea.

When I went from soldier to sailor (like that Carrè fellow) the seas took me along with a welcome, maybe a few times I was naughty and wham! came that storms pulling my ear.
I gave to her a little over thirty years, and like a reluctant lover that are force to go, she never are far away, because I live by the sea, to look and hear my lover now and then.
Sublime poem!

Mother Ocean provides many gifts for we mortals, and wandering her shores is truly a delightful thing to do. Love that pic, too.

I grew up by the sea in California and I spent many tranquil hours knowing and loving Mother Sea in all of Her moods, and I got to appreciate Her moods better as I sailed the Navy's Pacific adventure and survived a few of Her hissy fits!!! Beautiful job with this one, Marcia :-)
