Just a humorous piece about a dating incident I once had. Hope you enjoy it.
I called four weeks later
To tell you I decided to break it off
‘Cause I wanted to be a
Man about it--
That’s what he said...
I said, ‘Who is this?!’
Then I roared about it--
I laughed until I cried!
First, ‘cause my idea of being a
Man about it
Would have been to say it to my face,
So that he could have seen my amusement
At his arrogant assumption
That I gave a darn.
Next, I would have enjoyed the look of shame
That would have overtaken him
When I showed him the wonderful guy
Who had waltzed into my life
Exactly three and one half weeks earlier--
(Honey, God is GOOD!)
The one who captivated me so,
I hadn’t even noticed that he was gone;
Couldn’t remember what he looked like;
Wouldn’t have recognized him on the street—
And barely remembered his name!
Yet this man’s ego clearly led him to--
Incorrectly—
Assume that I cared about the things he’d done
Or hadn’t done.
In any case, I hope he feels better—
Hope his conscious has stopped
Troubling him
‘Cause I never gave it a second thought.
And never would have
Had he not given me a reason to chuckle--
And a story I’ll tell for the next 10 years!
Yea somtimes egos can be a source of humour when they think they are that important that a person should sit at home pining over them for that length of time.
