Sweet Purity

I love the world after a heavy rain
All bathed so clean and new
Like wonderful natural deodorant
Sprayed in the air
The scent all fresh like dew.

I love the beautiful old trees
All silently green as they sleep
Like gentle peaceful centuries
Watching over the earth
Protecting beauty they want to keep.

I love the green growing grass
Rising out of the fertilized ground
Like freshly shampooed carpet
Beneath my feet
Renewed like magic all around.

I love the cheerful colors of the sky
The pale white and blue turning yellow
Like a giant artist’s brush
Brushing paint against a canvas
To the tune of angels singing with a cello.

But most of all I love the purity after a rain
With all nature so crisp and clean
As if God has started everything
All new and fresh again
To create a landscape worthy of being seen.

Odd isn't it that such extraordinary and wonderful events such as God's purification of our magnificent earth are taken by us as routine operational services, rarely noticed though fundamentally essential to our very existence.

It all makes me wonder that when our individual Judgment Day comes upon us if we'll even bother to acknowledge God's presence before we're off to whatever we've earned for our Hereafter.

Are we becoming a little too focused on our own egocentric universe?

"Sweet Purity" is a very polite Wake-up Call reminding us that if we don't stop to smell the roses and acknowledge who makes them grow we may not be needed around here anymore.

I loved this poem and message, Jeanette: "All fresh like dew"!

I feel happiness and contentment sitting in this poem in a remarkable and childish way. How wonderful! I especially loved "gentle peaceful centuries". That was really insightful.

Yesterday my sister in law sent me many beautiful scenes of God's painting nature. They were so colorful and attractive, and it was all due to God's handiwork. This write brought the memory of yesterday back to me. It is a most colorful world out there. Make the most of it and enjoy the fresh air and sunshile while at it.

I read the title of the poem just above yours on the "new poetry" page---and groaned inwardly, but just beneath it was "Sweet Purity," and I knew which one I would read.
Like the rain, your poem is cleansing and refreshing, a lovely picture to start my new day.

Jeanette, this is so nice. I love it, when after a rain storm the sun shines brightly...that fresh scent in the air...and there's an almost spiritual silence that exists...even if only for a few moments.
