      Tiny bright lights.....

Standing outside late at night,
staring endlessly into the blackened sky.
A glistening twinkle here and there,
touching your heart, catching your eye.

Quietly straining to see something else,
more tiny bright dots appear within view.
Taurus, Libra, Sagittarius, and Gemini,
Big Dipper, Little Dipper, of course Draco too.

Slow moving waves slither back and forth,
cool, refreshing, stealing away moistened sand.
Moon reflections gracing each ripple,
as the sleeping season covets this land.

Just a slight breeze gently moving by,
no longer warm now a crisp, cool, chill.
Hot breath meeting cool with every exhale,
forming tiny clouds, offering a sweet thrill.

Squirrels, rabbits, toads all disappeared,
off to their homes until the arrival of spring.
The blanket of darkness encompasses all,
as if being protected by one giant wing.

No more the cacophony of winged angels,
from days of warmth, left barren with nests.
Trees now sleeping stripped of color,
earth replenishing as nature rests.

High above the light show proceeds,
freeing the mind to see the unseen.
Look even further, past the black void,
and see what new life survives so pristine.

A moving streak lights up the night sky,
duplicating across the deep blue sea.
Such intricate displays of detail repeating,
with cyclical reverence meant to be.

How simple life was destined to be,
yet mankind continues to complicate.
The preordained still lies within reach,
to study, learn, and then duplicate.

A return to basics, shared love of family,
fireplace lit for warmth and light.
Surrounded by children, kitties, and pups,
makes a close knit family closer this night.

This writing does well in focusing attention on the simple good things we have to share--things that we cannot possess, however that we can all enjoy at once, and whenever. Lovely writer, write some more.

I love the way you take us to the wide-eyed awe and wonder of the night skies back to the crackling fireside lights, Karen. There is such reverence and tenderness expressed in your flowing verses which speak of a complete ease with the giving and receiving of emotions and thoughts. No saddened inhibition or regrets here. Just a love for the totality of life in balance, as it should be. I love the direction you take us through as we journey with you. Bless you, Kate xx

Karen and Robert,

Those tiny bright lights speak of home - in the universe, in front of that wonderful fireplace - yes. Especially on a chilly 40 degree morning like this one is ... surrounded by your husband, puppies and kitties ... LOL! Beautifully penned and illustrated, well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Oh the soothing rhythm of your verses, makes me miss my sweet children, now grown up all on their own. I am alone, by choice, but sometimes it gets quite unbearable. I escape often to the beach or a quick trip to rejuvenate, but really the times that I miss are those that you have written about in this poem...You have a very nice way about you, Karen, and I am so thankful that I have the pleasure to know you.
Much peace, light and angel love to you dear friend,
Amber "V"
