As the winds of time became
harsher, the opalescent twilight
softened the scene~

Too many winters had taken
their toll, and the bleached
bones of war, made minds
mean~

Staring out upon a bleak horizon
of waste, looking for some green
grass to alleviate the terrain of
despair~

The fireplace warm and cozy belies
the frozen veins that can never be
warm until the tides of terror have
disappeared~

One wonders the why's of it all
for in the eyes of all, is the same
destruction,horror,injustice,and
angst of war~

One thinks of the lives reduced to
ashes,the beauty of nature turned
to barreness,the utter negativity of
the facts~

When memories turn smiles to tears,
and the nights bring images of war
and fears, where do the minds of those
who start unecessary wars go, to repent
of their  evil deeds!

~etw~

From scarce food to foe, and family feud to the deification of the god of war, we are all to blame for not seeing humanity for what it is.

Your images are disturbingly true.

(Unfortunately) This is a timeless message, Eileen. I don't like the war movies because they break my heart to watch. All the loss of life. Well penned.

Those who contemplate war should be sent in the young men and women they send to fight that war. 'Nuff said. Excellent!

One wonders the why's of it all

And some have been wondering why since mankind first started walking this planet, and waging war on his own kind.

Amen, Eileen. Of course, I've arrived at the stage where I
believe that all wars are evil and unnecessary. Where do the
minds of those who start unnecessary wars go? They usually go
to start another unnecessary war. -gene.

"...where do the minds of those
who start unecessary wars go..."
Methinks their minds are busy counting their "coins" while salivating.
Wow, Eileen...you covered the evils of most wars so complete. As Georg wisely says "...raw as the truth is."

Unnecessary War is Evil, you got that right, how many family's are missing their loved ones today, because of it

This poem I'm sure is hitting home to those who have lost friends and family
Well written reminder to all, that we are on this world for only a short time
Theres no need to make it any shorter!
Have a pleasant day

It is not difficult to understand why people start wars, my friend. Greed or power. Even the religious war we are involved in today, and there is no doubt that we are still in a war, even if the news media ignores it these days because of the Anointed One is in the White House. But even religious wars are begun for the pursuit of power. Those with stars in their eyes to foolishly believe that there can truly be peace on earth are seeing things through the proverbial rose-colored glasses which have no basis with fact and history and the reality that the human race is a flawed and seriously corrupt species.

The common evil lies within all of us, when we denounce our common heritage as being brothers and sisters, when we start calling them the other, not realizing the other is us. The human history, is a shambles of denial of our common evil and goodness, and not adressing them,- that is our common evil. When we adress this issue forthrightly,- I doubt this will ever happen, the merchants of death and widow makers as Georg rightly calls them, will find a harder time manipulating.......... and maybe then, we might even adress the war we wage on other totally innocent creatures, not guilty of any crime, except of being born different in God's design. You dear friend have touched a nerve of our common truth, this poem should be framed. Bless You and Hugs! Jasmin Horst

Merchants of war, merchants of dead, the widows makers, the profit mongers, the extremist in God's name, yes...the evil ones.
What will they say on Judgment Day? "the devil make me do it"?
Raw poem, raw as the truth is.
