The awakening of spring.

Awake

Sueded sides, still in the brush beneath the cedar tree,
Silent there, struck by your beauty, I hope you don’t see me.
A trail that says you’ve been so close, in the fresh new fallen snow,
You’re welcome here I’ll clear your path, no matter where you go.

Raven shine, voice so loud, landing in that tree,
From inside, my mountain home, I see you look at me.
A scavenger of morsels, you steal from unknown places,
Your antics as you strut and walk, put smiles on human faces.

Oh chatter box upon the snow, I think you’re mocking me,
From there you dart on tiny feet to circle up the tree.
Out on the limb, you look at me, throw acorns at my feet,
No thank you sir, that’s my reply, they’re there for you to eat.

It’s early spring, all come awake and fill once barren days,
Silent in the winter are but born again today.
The sun shines down to warm the earth and touch a smiling face,
I’ll take your hand and you and I across the field will race.
