what I see all around me

Brown the color of changing seasons Stark bare branches stretch upward toward the cloudy blue shy Lakes lie without a ripple Sound, leaves rustle as feet shuffle Through scented wooded trails Tiny scurrying rodents prepare for sleep Silence, Daydreams The smell of wood smoke from houses huddled on the now barren land Sadness, prevails Around snapping campfires Loved one�s speak of memories Popcorn and toasted marshmallows Warm the tummy and the heart Waiting for spring The scent of new earth the sight of new growth Longing for new beginnings
